I’m the Iceland horse, and I’m the newest member of the Ostheimer horse family. Yes, I’m a bit smaller than the others and sometimes mistaken for a pony, but strong and freedom-loving as we Icelanders are, I love to gallop across the pasture with my flowing mane.
Have you noticed the special mark on my forehead? I’m very proud of it, and of my name too: You can pronounce it “Roo-kür.” In Icelandic, it means “tower.”
There’s also a beautiful picture book about me, “Hrókur and the Sky Riders.” In it, you’ll learn about me and my longing for my homeland. Just ask for my book at your local bookstore.
