Hello! I'm Brenna and I started Woollykins after we moved to Melbourne from the UK in 2011 with our then 3 year old. I had been living in London for nearly 12 years but I'm originally from Brisbane. I struggled to find the brands that I had fallen in love with when clothing my first baby and as our family was growing I felt a strong desire to introduce these pieces to Australian families.
Having had three winter babies now and being a textile artist and avid knitter I fell in love with the beautiful healthful properties of merino wool. It’s the kind of fibre that does everything you want clothes to do for your precious babies – it’s breathable, nurturing, regulates temperature, practical, mendable, easy to clean and long lasting.
I look for clothing that honours the need for children to play, move and be independent and almost all of our pieces have been tried and tested by the daily rigours of our three young boys, handed down, mended and worn throughout the year.
We believe in sourcing timeless classics that are not influenced by fashion but chosen on more sustainable principles to do with longevity of wear, value for money, ethical production using sustainable fabrics and fibres from organically raised and farmed sources. Clothing by our major brands Disana, Engel-Natur and Cosilana all carry the GOTS label which is the industry's highest ecological and socially responsible standard for textiles.
Our best selling range is our Disana Nappy System that more parents are discovering as they turn away from the mountains of disposable nappy waste and opt for a more affordable and sustainable nappy system. We truly believe that the Disana nappies are the most natural, easy to use, economical, long lasting and plastic free nappy system around. It was first developed in the 70s and designed by mothers and midwives to provide the best comfort for baby. Find out more about these amazing nappies here.
Above all I want Mums and Dads to feel supported in their journey as parents by our beautiful collection of natural clothing. I hope you enjoy clothing your child in these wonderful pieces as much as we do. With a little care you'll find these garments will last the test of time and nurture many generations to come.
