Melin Tregwynt - Woven in Wales
Here at Woollykins we're thrilled to offer our long-awaited collection of stunning blankets and homewares from the renowned Welsh brand, Melin Tregwynt.
Melin Tregwynt is celebrated for its authentic Welsh doublecloth designs - traditional weaves made from 100% pure wool, all of which are reversible. These stunning pieces have been woven at the mill since the 1950s. The Griffiths family has been weaving blankets for over a century, since Henry Griffiths purchased Melin Tregwynt in 1912. The mill itself has been in continuous operation since the 17th century, when local farmers would bring their fleeces to be spun into yarn and woven into durable Welsh wool blankets. Today, the mill continues this proud tradition, employing over 40 local people.
We visited Melin Tregwynt back in 2008 and we were captivated by the working mill and museum and its location on the convergence of three rivers near the coast of Pembrokeshire. We are so delighted to welcome these stunning pieces of Welsh textile heritage to Woollykins.
