  • Neem oil Spray: Moth Protection for Textiles

    Size

This organic Neem Oil spray, especially formulated for textiles, is used to protect all your precious yarns and wool clothing from clothes moths and to significantly reduce and even remove the moth problem in your home. The active ingredient in Neem oil is Azadirachtin which disrupts the insect hormone systems making it harder for insects to grow and lay eggs. It also acts as a repellent and other components of Neem oil kill insects by hindering their ability to feed. Azadirachtin can also repel and reduce the feeding of nematodes.

Neem oil is a naturally occurring pesticide found in seeds from the Neem tree. It has been used for hundreds of years to control pests and diseases.

This Neem oil is extracted from Neem leaves that are grown on a small organic farm in India. The farm is kbA registered (certified organic).

Size: 250ml spray bottle of Neem oil. The smell is pleasant with citrus tones and soon dissipates, so it doesn't remain in clothing at all.

Usage in brief (read down for more info):20 pumps = approx 10 mls. Spray 50cm above garments to create a mist. Use 10 mls per 1 square metre. Repeat every 3-6 months.

How to use Furnishings and to get rid of Dust Mites:

Mattress (surface 2 sqm) + a quilt (both sides Sqm) approx. = 70ml. Brush or vacuum used mattresses and bedding outdoors. Neem oil is economical. You can protect a square meter of carpet, wall hangings or mattresses and bedding with about 10ml (about 20 pumps / sprays). Repeat every 3-6 months, depending on the season and age of the bedding, shake the bottle and then mist the bedding evenly from a distance of 50cm.

More about Neem and its many uses including dust mites and carpet infestations.

Neem oil, cold-pressed from the fruits / seeds of the Indian neem tree, has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It's used to treat rashes, as a shampoo for head lice and much more.  Farmers in Asia burn dried leaves and use them to drive away beetles and insects in farming. In recent times, western science has researched the active ingredient and has found that the azadirachitin contained in the seed kernels in particular is effective as a natural textile protection against moths and also dust mites.  After extensive series of tests, neem oil was classified as very effective according to ISO standard 3998. Just 10ml sprayed on 1 square meter of carpet or corresponding storage room protect against moth infestation for 6-12 months. Neem spoils the insects appetite so that they can neither develop nor multiply.  For a few years now, the product has even been used as a natural pesticide in vegetable cultivation, where it is diluted with water and sprayed directly onto the vegetables. The agent is therefore completely harmless to humans and is increasingly being used in organic farming.
