  • The Classic 50 Fabric Shaver

If you love your woollies then you will no doubt love this as much as we do! It's most satisfying. This fabric shaver removes pills and fuzz and makes your garments look brand new again. Keep your woollies in great condition for handing down through the generations. With a little care our garments can feel newer longer so we don't feel the urge to spend or accumulate more.

Once you've done one garment you be actively seeking out items to de-pill. Trust me. So much better than a 90s Stress Ball, de-pilling everyone's garments in the house will become your new happy place ;) Check out our Instagram Wool Care Stories Highlight for heaps of rave reviews and customer before and afters.

We've tried a few different fabric shavers but this electric one is far superior than any of the battery operated ones, it has lasted longer and doesn't get clogged up and lose power like other ones do. You can also buy replacement blades if they get blunt or wear down over time.

    The low down:

Many garments attract lint, fuzz and pilling caused by friction from washing and wearing and from wool drying out.  It can make your garments look old and often difficult to clean. The Classic 50 Fabric Shaver has precision blades to ensure a gentle but close shave off unsightly pilling with ease. Your entire wardrobe will always look fresh and new.

Advice on Pilling and caring for your woollen garments:

Wool yarns which are dried out tend to pill more. Dry wool also loses elasticity. Therefore slightly moisten wool clothing once or twice a week with a water mist to keep the concentration of humidity of the wool high. Don’t store or dry wool products in direct sunlight or near a heater - they dry out very quickly. Lanolin coats the wool fibres in a protective cover and reduces pilling. While moistening the wool, put a little lanolin conditioner into the spray water.

    Instructions for use

Unwind power cord and plug in your fabric shaver. Lay your garment flat on an ironing board. Remove the protective cap. Ensure the cleaning head is flat to the garment. Holding the fabric taut, use short even strokes and glide (do not press) your fabric shaver backwards and forwards to remove pilling, balling, and matted fibres. Take extra care around seams, buttons, and raised areas. Go with the direction of the seam, never run across the seam.

    Cleaning:

Unplug your fabric shaver. Unscrew foil by turning anti clockwise and gently remove blade. Use brush provided to gently clean blade, foil, and fan.

    Blade replacement

Place blade onto shaft of shaver. Gently turn blade using no pressure. Blade slots naturally into position - IMPORTANT: Do no use excessive force. When replacing foil do no over-tighten. For optimum performance, replace blades as often as required. Click here for replacement blades.

    Caring for your fabric shaver

This fabric shaver has a safety feature that turns the unit off if the foil is loose of the unit bin is not in place. If lint is allowed to build up in blades, the foil can become dislodged and activate the safety switch. Motor damage can occur if your fabric shaver is left running without contact to fabric. Always empty the lint bin when near 80% full. Do not use excessive pressure when in use. Do not drop.
