New - Finally, our long-awaited collection of stunning blankets by Welsh brand Melin Tregwynt has arrived!
This wonderful wool blanket by Welsh brand Melin Tregwynt is a most useful and lovely essential for home. Featuring a beautiful and intricate design from the Melin Tregwynt mill, where the Griffiths family has been weaving blankets since 1912. Made from 100% lambswool, this 120 x 200cm woven throw will be loved by all the family. Perfect as a couch or bed throw.
In 100% Lambswool cloth, this blanket feels wonderfully soft and light but is still cosy and warm, practical for everyday use and easy to care for. Finished with a simple hem on all four sides so you can choose to display either side of the gorgeous design of this reversible fabric.
This intricate double cloth tapestry weave was created in the 1950's with help from the rural industries board. It forms part of Melin Tregwynt's archive of classic designs, and because of its timeless appeal, has been in continuous production at their mill since the 1960's. We visited Melin Tregwynt back in 2008 and we were captivated by the working mill and museum and its location on the convergence of three rivers near the coast of Pembrokeshire. We are so delighted to welcome these stunning pieces of Welsh textile heritage to Woollykins.
The fabric has a pattern repeat of 26 x 31 cm.

Care: Melin Tregwynt does NOT advise using a Wool Wash programme on your washing machine for blankets and throws. Wash only when necessary - airing does wool wonders. Wash by hand in cold or cool water (no more than 30 degrees) using a gentle detergent (see our Wool Care section for wool stain removers and no-rinse eco wool shampoos). Move the fabric gently in the water for a couple of minutes. RINSE with cold water and press the excess moisture out - don't wring. Follow with a quick SPIN in the washing machine - choose your lowest spin cycle. Gently pull into shape whilst damp to straighten, then line dry on a breezy day or dry flat. Cool iron if necessary. Wool can absorb 30% of its weight in water before feeling wet so you may prefer to use the bath! Leaving in water for a length of time will damage the fibres, felting and shrinking the fabric. If lanolising, leave to soak for 15 minutes or less. This throw can also be dry-cleaned.
