    Size

Naturally tanned with the bark of the Mimosa tree, these beautiful lambskins are the most natural as well as the softest baby lambskins we have found. A short trimmed fleece which is perfect for babies.

This lambskin has been organically tanned using herbal extracts from the bark of the Mimosa tree. The Mimosa tree is found in Africa, South America and Australia and provides the natural tannin required for the traditional vegetable tanning of skins. In this natural tanning method the skins are not dyed thus they retain the natural pigmentation of the fleece. Natural colour variations in the fleece may be visible.

    Size: Large 90-100cm
Made in Germany by Kaiser Baby

The skins are a byproduct of meat production so no sheep has died for their skin and all parts of the animal are used. All sheep are mulesing-free by European law. Kaiser Baby's medical Lamb & Sheepskins are audited annually by TÜV Rheinland of harmful substances and the guidelines of Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class I. For all their quality baby products, Kaiser do not use chrome tanning, as these can cause allergies.

"We use MIMOSA tanning compound, which is extracted from the bark of the mimosa-tree, for the vegetable tanning. The sheepskins are not aggressively pretreated or dyed. The original pigment coating is preserved i.e., natural spots are not covered. The result is a natural shade of beige. The Mimosa can be hand washed but does not handle machine washing as well as the regular sheepskin for baby." Kaiser baby.

Care: Regular airing keeps your skin clean and fresh. Since lambskins have natural self-cleaning properties it is usually enough to hang in the fresh air to aid cleaning. Since the fleece has been tanned very carefully, it is sufficient to spot clean or brush out any soiling from the wool. If necessary the skin can also be washed gently by hand wash in luke warm water with Tantech's Woolskin Lambskin and Fleece Shampoo. It is important that you keep massaging and shaping the leather during the drying process, otherwise the leather may get hard. Dry with the leather side up, out of direct sunlight and away from the heater.
