Engel Natur is a long-established German brand specialising in natural, organic textiles for babies, children and adults. For over 40 years, Engel has been committed to producing clothing from pure natural fibres, guided by the highest ecological and ethical standards and are founding members of the International Association for Natural Textiles (IVN).

As a family-run business since 1930, Engel places great importance on responsibility, both to people and to the environment. All garments are manufactured in Germany, with a strong focus on transparency, fair working conditions, and long-term relationships with everyone involved in the production process.

Engel uses only the finest organic merino wool, natural mulberry silk, and organic cotton. Their wool is sourced from certified organic farms in Argentina, where mulesing is prohibited and animal welfare is paramount. These farms operate under the “Prolana” programme, ensuring strict ecological practices and humane treatment of animals. All products are certified to the highest standards, including IVN BEST or GOTS, and production follows ILO fair trade principles.

The fabrics themselves are what set Engel apart. Their signature fine rib merino (200gsm) and wool/silk blend (approx. 190gsm) is soft, breathable, and naturally temperature regulating, making it ideal for sensitive skin and everyday wear.  Engel's 100% merino wool fleece fabric is super lofty and warm, it's one of our favourites for babies. Engel avoids all chemical finishing processes, and only uses dyestuffs free from heavy metals and harmful AZO dyes.

The collection includes simple, functional pieces such as underwear, sleepwear and outerwear and is designed for childhood, and for the comfort, health and wellbeing of humans and the planet as a whole. 

Engel also offers a well designed Engel Sports range, designed for those seeking high-performance, synthetic-free activewear. Made from organically certified merino wool and wool/silk blends, these pieces provide natural breathability, moisture-wicking, and temperature regulation.
