Hirsch Natur's Trekking socks for walkers, hikers and active folk. Knitted from 100% organic merino wool with a plush sole for added warmth, wicking ability and comfort. The plush sole is created by knitting in an extra thread in the sole and they add a cushioning underfoot without being too thick.

Wool is perfect for hikers because it feels comfortable and dry, even when your feet sweat. It can absorb a lot of moisture - up to 33% of its dry weight which helps to prevent blisters.

    BrandHirsch Natur, est. 1928
    Designed in: Germany
Origine of Fibre: Sourced from certified organic farming in Patagonia
Country of manufacture: Spun in Europe. Dyed, knitted and manufactured in Germany.
Certifications: NATURTEXTIL IVN certified BEST (IVN BEST) organic
Fabric structure: Knitted from 100% certified organic merino wool. A few strings of elastane are sewn into the top inch of the cuff to stop the socks from falling down - these make up 0.3-0.5% of total fibres.
Biodegradability: Wool fibres are 100% biodegradable. Before composting, remove the few elastane threads in the cuff to dispose of separately, or cut away top inch to re-use as a hair-tie, garden tie, etc.
Machine Washable: No (see our guide to washing wool)

Care: Air between uses, only wash when required, handwash or gentle cold wool machine cycle. Please treat these socks with the same care and love you'd give to a handknitted sock. Always wear with sock savers (slippers!) to reduce wear and tear on your quality 100% wool socks. All wool socks will wear through faster than socks with nylon. Darn for life long love.

Sizes: (true to size) To ensure your socks are not subject to unnecessary friction be sure to choose a well fitted sock. Don't size up.

More about 100% wool socks. Hirsch natur socks are made from 100% unprocessed organic merino wool and are Handwash only. Best to air your socks for three days if you feel they need a wash. Hirsch Natur recommend washing every 6 weeks. Alternate with another pair so you don’t wear them continuously, they need a break! They don’t have any nylon in them so with lots of wear the wool will start to wear down and then it’s time to reinforce them or mend any holes that are starting to develop, like in days of old. Because you don’t need to wash them very often, handwashing them doesn’t take too long and will save them from washing machine mishaps.

IVN BEST is the highest ecological standard that can currently be achieved in the textile industry, taking into account environmental & social welfare. The IVN BEST certification is only awarded to textiles made from 100% organically produced natural fibres. The certification takes into account all the environmental effects of the entire production process, from production of the fibres to the finished garment, along with high social welfare standards for all companies involved in the process.
