We came face to face with a number of pieces from her wardrobe in the touring exhibition \"Frida Kahlo: In her own image\" which presented the rediscovery of her personal belongings that had been sealed in a bathroom for 50 years after her death. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe traditional huipil is a loose-fitting blouse from Mexico and Central America made from cotton featuring elaborate embroidery motifs in a square construction. We wanted to create a knitted version using a combination of colourwork and lace stitches. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe top has a boxy shape with drop cap sleeves and is knitted with a contrasting outside\/inside yarns which create a subtle melange of the two colours throughout. We think it looks so flattering on. The yarn feels soft, light and breezy against the skin.
